SFC Fluidics' ePump provides controlled delivery of fluids in the nL/min-to-µL/min flow rate regime for commercial applications in microfluidics, capillary liquid chromatography, and lab-on-a-chip devices. This non-mechanical pumping system allows researchers and instrumentation manufacturers access to a fluid delivery system with a footprint of less than 1 in2 that can deliver the constant low flow rates that are so critical for microfluidic bioassay applications. The pumping system allows for microflow applications requiring "pulse-free" operation.
The ePump has a small footprint and is able to control delivery of very low flow rates against significant back pressure and has minimum voltage requirements. There are no moving parts in the ePump which allows for complete scalability and long lifetimes of the apparatus. There are considerable market opportunities for the stand-alone ePump in research and commercial chromatography, microfluidics, proteomics, and sample introduction.
MHD microfluidics is a platform technology suitable for the realization of a wide range of fully integrated on-chip components. The differentiating properties of SFC Fluidics' mPump makes it uniquely suited for many important applications. Its compatibility with a wide range of materials and solvents, its wide operable size and flow rate range, and its simple construction and low complexity are key features of MHD microfluidics. MHD microfluidic networks provide an elegant, inexpensive, flexible, customizable fluidic platform that allow one to move reagents along programmable paths, stir liquids, and facilitate chemical and biological interactions and thermal cycling.
